Atlas of Social Attitudes

On 24 September, at 11:00, the public presentation of the Atlas of Social Attitudes will take place in the Maria de Sousa Room at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon. The Atlas is a new digital platform developed by the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon within the framework of PASSDA – Production and Archive of Social Science Data.
The Atlas makes it easier to explore data from some of the main comparative social surveys in Europe whose implementation in Portugal is ensured by PASSDA, such as the European Social Survey (ESS) and the European Values Study (EVS). Through maps, charts and other interactive tools, users can compare countries, track changes over time and explore differences between social groups.
What do Europeans think about politics, immigration, family, work, religion, sustainability or well-being? In what respects do different countries resemble or differ from one another? And how have these attitudes changed over recent decades?
The session will present the Atlas’s main features, the choices underlying its design, and some of the stories that the data can help tell.
